Codex Leicester

Codex Leicester is the only manuscript by Leonardo da Vinci that is owned by a private party and not an institution. It was purchased by Bill Gates in 1994 for $30.8 million. The manuscript dates from 1506-1510 and is comprised of 72 pages of linen paper with notes on a wide variety of topics. It is the only one of Da Vinci’s Codexes in the United States.

Dead Sea Scrolls

One of the most important archaeological and theological discoveries of all time was made thanks to a little lost goat. In 1947, a group of Bedouin goat herders looking for their goat discovered a cave in Qumran that was filled with jars containing ancient manuscripts, the Dead Sea Scrolls.
